You will often hear from job interview experts and human resources managers that first impressions are important. Body language, verbal communication, and personal appearance all factor into that pivotal first impression you make on another person. We are used to having the freedom to talk about what outfit we should invest in for our upcoming interview, or what colors will flatter our features, or what clothing is fashionable right now. But there are some people who don’t have that freedom, the fortune of being able to think about their own personal style. Some of our peers have to struggle just to find their place in the world first.
The annual Met Gala, formal name being the Costume Institute Gala (and also known as the Met Ball), was held this past Monday, May 5th, 2014 at the prestigious Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. It celebrates the opening of the Costume Institute’s fashion exhibit for the season and it is also considered to be one of the most exclusive and successful fundraising events of the year. This year was no exception as the Met Ball’s red carpet dazzled with the gowns and suits worn by the star studded guest list.
Summer is nearly upon us and we often find ourselves looking into our closets, making sure we have suitable clothes to weather the hottest season. The trick to having a good set of clothes for any season is not quantity, but quality. If you have a few well-made pieces that can be worn in different ways, you will never find yourself without a thing to wear. Versatility is key to a piece of wardrobe earning the “staple” title, and the bodysuit is a tried and true must-have piece. With its comfortable stretchability, ease of wear, and flattering silhouette, the bodysuit is a proven summer staple.
Red lipstick has always been a game changer. The drama of red colored lips can truly transform a makeup look from pretty to devastatingly gorgeous. Think back to your favorite iconic siren of the silver screen or flip through a current fashion magazine. Chances are, dazzling red lips adorn the most daring beauties. Red lips, much like red clothing or red shoes, or even red cars or red stoplights – signify a need to draw attention, a non-verbal “Hey, look at me.” So where does one go to get their signature red lipstick? None other than Make-Up Art Cosmetics, or M.A.C. as it’s commonly known.
This year, Mother’s Day falls on Sunday May 11th. Mother’s Day is a wonderful way to show your Mom, Mama, Mum, or Mother that you are thankful for her presence in your life. Mom’s life lessons that she taught you when you were young have undoubtedly guided you through life’s obstacles, now that you’re a grown-up. A gift on Mother’s Day does not have to be showy or spectacular. What’s important is that you put some thought and feeling into it and that you get her something that shows her just how much you cherish her and her own unique and vibrant spirit.
