Oscars Fashion: Past and Present Leading Ladies

Nothing says old Hollywood glamour like the Oscars!

Since  the very first Academy Awards in 1929, starletts have been gracing the red carpet and showing off their style and taste in exquisute gowns. With the 2015 Oscars Awards Ceremony having just passed we wanted to take a look at some of the most stunning styles of the past as well as acknowledge the current trends of this year’s winner.

Take a look!

Who could forget such a classic beauty as Audrey Hepburn? She is featured here in a Hubert de Givenchy dress after just having won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in Roman Holiday (1953). Her delicate features are highlighted by the cream colored fabric and sweet floral print that made her look both innocent and sexy!

Another of America’s seductive sweethearts, Elizabeth Taylor, stunned the fashion world here in a Christian Dior gown at the 1961 Oscars. Adorned with a flower that perfectly matches her lipstick and a billowing skirt to emphasize her killer waistline, Elizabeth Taylor shows the world that classic silhouettes are always feminine and chic.

This year Julianne Moore wowed the red carpet with a custom Chanel style dress, designed by Karl Lagerfeld. The dress is extremely intricate, taking more than 927 hours to add the dazzling Chopard jewels but we think it was definitely worth it!

No matter if the actress presents herself in a gown or jumpsuit (Yep! We’ve seen it!) each ensemble represents the individual style and taste of the leading lady. Whether the style is modern or classic, embellished or unadorned, we still think that the Oscar statue is one accessory that will never go out of style.
